Two Arrests and Narcotics Seized

On 8/1/2020 at approximately 11:00 AM, Corporal Dustin Crawford conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 10 near the 600 mile marker observed the operator of a SUV commit a traffic violation. As he caught up to the vehicle it exited at Schwab Road and a traffic stop was conducted. Corporal Crawford contacted the driver and passenger of the vehicle and received conflicting stories from both. Corporal Crawford deployed his K9 partner Eddie and received a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and 1.2 pounds of cocaine was located under the center console of the SUV. The two women arrested were identified as Crystal Ortega, 39 years old and Latoyreeyah Prince, 23 years old both of Vinton, Louisiana and were charged with Manufacture Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group One >= 400 grams. Both are being held in the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center on $25,000.00 bonds.

A one year old child and a two year old child were also traveling in the vehicle with the two women. Child Protective Services were contacted at the scene and caseworkers took custody of both children.
