New Berlin Fire Department Burglary

03/18/2021

On the 7th of March, 2021 the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office took a report that a burglary had occurred at Fire Station #2 of the New Berlin Fire Department.  The person or persons who committed this burglary took critical life-saving equipment from the building and Fire Trucks which were inside of the station.

Among the items taken was an orange Holmatro spreader which is known as "the jaws of life" and they are used to save lives when people are trapped and cannot be extricated by normal means.  The burglary was discovered by members of the New Berlin Fire Department, and reported to the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office.

At this time the burglary is under investigation by the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office, and we are asking the public for any information which would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed this crime.  As is known, Volunteer Fire Departments are often the only quickly available fire/rescue service for rural county residents.  So when a crime of this sort occurs, it adversely affects all the citizens served by the New Berlin Volunteer Fire Department.  They also depend on donations to finance equipment and so a loss of this sort is a major setback to their ability to serve the citizens of Guadalupe County.

If anyone has any information regarding this burglary, the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office is asking them to call us at 830-379-1224 and ask for Investigator Roseland.  OR
