On January 28, 2022, Guadalupe County Sheriff's K9 Corporal Dustin Crawford and Corporal Rudy Guarnero were working criminal interdiction on IH 10 West near Zuehl Road, which is inside the Cibolo City Limits.  Cpl Guarenero observed a black in color Nissan Frontier traveling at a high rate of speed through a construction zone on IH 10 West. Cpl Crawford observed the vehicle as well and conducted a traffic stop. Cpl Crawford made contact with the driver and sole occupant who was identified as 26 year old Omar DAVILA from Mission, Texas. Cpl Crawford spoke with DAVILA and observed nervous behavior. Cpl Crawford asked for consent to search the vehicle and was granted consent by DAVILA. Cpl Crawford began the consent search and found a backpack that contained one cellophane wrapped bundle.  Cpl Crawford utilized his K9 partner, "Eddie" and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. K9 Eddie alerted on the vehicle. The bundle was later found to contain 1.1 kilograms of suspected cocaine. DAVILA was placed in custody and booked in to the Guadalupe County Jail for the offense of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 greater than 400 Grams (cocaine). The street value of the cocaine seized by Cpl Crawford is estimated to be worth $43,000.
