On 6/20/24 Guadalupe County Narcotics Taskforce K9 Sergeant Crawford initiated a traffic stop on a Volkswagen Passenger car for a traffic violation at 616 mile marker of IH-10 east. During the traffic stop K9 Sergeant Crawford identified the driver and sole occupant as 37 years old Luis Alberto Hernandez Ramirez, out of Garcia, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Sergeant Crawford was assisted by Seguin PD Case Unit Officer Trejo. Sgt. Crawford had observed an anomaly in the vehicle's contents which led him to seek consent to search the vehicle. Hernandez Ramirez consented to a search of his vehicle, which revealed methamphetamine being concealed within the packaging of candies. Additionally, a hidden compartment was located in an ice chest which contained more methamphetamine. The total audit weight of the methamphetamine seized was 14.8 Kilograms. Hernandez Ramirez was taken into custody on Federal drug charges.
